Prodigies of Nature

Established in 2015, the aim of  P.O.N. was simple, we represented a brand, culture and way of life. Unbeknown to us at the time, this way of life was innovation, entrepreneurship and an embodiment of the business mindset prevalent in many creatives in London nowadays.

What does your business do?

Our business consists of a music and video production studio. We also arrange our own music events, workshops and manage a talent agency. I am also the founder of The RecordShop, which is a FREE recording studio and artist development programme for young people aged 16 – 25 years old. The RecordShop also supports young people into employment by providing work placements and we also use music as a tool for personal, social and educational growth.

Why did you start your business?

The RecordShop was first established in 2015 and the idea was birthed from my own determination to progress as an independent, female rapper from London. Growing up I found that there were not many opportunities for young people to take part in music activities, therefore I wanted to create a platform for other likeminded young people interested in music. P.O.N. was established to support The RecordShop but also provide an array of services which captured all my creative interests under one umbrella i.e. videography, merchandise, event management etc.

What is key to your success?

I believe in taking risks to achieve your goals and using setbacks as motivation to pursue your dreams. I also view success as an on-going process and I change what I want to achieve as my businesses grow.

How has LYST helped you?

LYST has helped me make the transition from freelancer to business owner with ease and the support I needed as a start-up. I was provided with mentorship and access to key people who were available to answer my queries and point me in the right direction.

Whats been your biggest achievement recently?

My biggest achievement was winning the BBi UK ‘New Entrepreneur Mind of the Year’ award,  which Cliff, the centre manager at LYST put me forward for..It was a wonderful experience to be credited for your own work and it motivates me to keep going.
