Nine LYST businesses finalists for BBI Enterprise Minds Awards

Congratulations to the finalists who have been nominated for a variety of EMA Awards, which celebrate entrepreneurs from a minority ethnic background.

One of the finalists is Mary Otumahana from Prodigies of Nature (P.O.N).  Mary joined LYST’s 2 year incubation programme in the Summer of 2017 and took on a space at our 639 centre in Tottenham.  Centre manager Cliff Dobbs helped her to write a business plan and to access one of our affordable units for start-ups which she has transformed in to a music and video production studio and which operates under the name of Prodigies of Nature.  Mary has been nominated for the New Entrepreneur Mind Award.

Whilst Mary is a new LYST supported business, Gina Moffat is part of LYST’s alumni, having first received our support nearly 10 years ago.  Gina set up her business, Blooming Scent with help from LYST and The Prince’s Trust after coming out of prison in 2008.  Blooming Scent is a cafe and floristry business that Gina still runs from our 639 centre.

Gina has been nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award.  Should she win, Gina can add it to her many accolades.  She is seen here winning a Precious Award, meeting Prince Charles and appearing on BBC News.

The event will be held on 29th October 2017 at the banqueting suite of the prestigious Hilton London Tower Bridge and will feature business exhibitions, award presentations, fashion show, best dressed and dance competition, live entertainments, delicious ethnic cuisine and musical performances to round off the night.

We have booked our table and are looking forward to a fantastic evening.  We hope our 9 finalists will be coming home with a full set of awards!
